GOD BLESS THE USA!

I saw the neatest thing on campus at ASU the other day. There was this really nice memorial set up honoring the soldiers who had died. And my friend Lycie had found the pair of boots representing our own Joe McCarthy. It was really neat to see. The ladies in charge said that some of the boots were actually the soldier's whose name tag was associated with them and some were not. So we didn't know if those were really Joe's boots, but it was still very touching.

And I don't know why, but I have been very emotional about our soldiers lately. It's probably because Ben and I went to a concert the other weekend where half of the profits went towards helping our soldiers and so all the singers had "war" songs out and were big supporters of our troops. Tracy Lawrence was one of them and he has a new song out called "If I Don't Make It Back." It makes me want to cry every time I hear it. Everyone should go listen to it!

And then today I was complaining to my dad about not getting as big of a refund from the IRS as I wanted, and his reply was, "We live in the best country in the whole world and you are going to complain about taxes? Now you sound like the typical American." And it kind of just hit me how lucky we are to be free. God bless our troops!

It really touched me that you found Joe's boots in that memorial. My Joe's mom and dad went to see the exibit a couple of years ago, just after Joe was killed, but I have never seen it. It's good to hear that people still remember him and what he did. I am to this day very proud of him, and all of our men and women in our armed services.
Thank You!

That's a cool memorial! I have been thinking about the troops a lot too since Josh's cousins left. Jackson calls from Iraq occasionally and tells us about getting mortered and all the other things happening there. I hope everyone can take more time to do something good to remember our troops. They are sacrificing so much!
